Young entrepreneurs in Chelmsford are being offered an exciting opportunity to take their first steps into the world of business, thanks to a free market stall initiative supported by Chelmsford City Council and delivered in partnership with the North Essex Economic Board (NEEB).

Taking place on Friday, 12 July, the initiative offers 16–30-year-olds the chance to showcase their products, test their ideas, and connect directly with customers at the Chelmsford Indoor Market.

Backing the Next Generation of Business Talent

The opportunity forms part of a wider regional drive to support youth entrepreneurship and unlock the economic potential of young people across Essex. The Chelmsford event is one of several being held across the county this summer. There are four market locations available across Essex—including Braintree, Chelmsford, Epping Forest, and Uttlesford—making it easier than ever for young entrepreneurs across the region to get involved.

Participants will benefit not only from free stall space, but also from visibility in a well-established retail environment, feedback from real customers, and the potential to build lasting connections.

Alongside the free stall, participants can apply for a £200 seed funding grant to help get their business started, plus receive a free annual membership to the National Market Traders Federation—which includes liability insurance, an essential safety net for new traders.

To further support and motivate young talent, all participants gain entry to the prestigious UK Young Market Trader of the Year competition, where the winner will receive a £700 cash prize and other exciting rewards.
